Fragrance Oil Warmer, Essential oil burners? Selection and how to use them?

You don’t need an inspirational quote; you just need essential oils ~ Anonymous.

Essential oil and warmers

These oils are necessary to relieve tension and mood swings, build up stress in our body, and relaxing our minds.

  • They soothe us and our souls.
  • Essential oils with their refreshing, light, unique scents are perfect stress relivers.
  • They make everything better even for a little bit.

Oil warmer is a small piece of equipment that has a candle or a wick-burning on the inside. The flame warms the oils put on top.

  •  It is used to spread fragrances in the whole room and house.
  • It is also used to infuse medicine with the oil in the warmer for medicinal purposes.
  • This little thing has its application so important and useful.

Aromatherapy and oil warmers

Also known as Oil therapy, a process of healing and relaxing with natural essential oils. Oil warmers are extensively used for this activity. Working on the same principle, oil warmers are of two types. The main purpose is to diffuse out the oil into the overall atmosphere.

Oil Warmer

It has an inner small place that burns and there is a depression on top to add the drops of essential oils. As the flam underneath burns, the oil is dispersed into the room. Spreading in each direction and increasing the fragrance and medicinal contents in the atmosphere.

Our recommendations

 Oil Diffuser

They used electrical equipment where drops of essential oil plus the water are added into a container. The container electrically diffuses the oil along with water molecules in the surroundings. This works on a modern science. Diffusions Is a simple process yet very effective one. It spreads out the water droplets and their contents in the whole room uniformly.

Now we are going to look at the different types of the oil warmer available in the market.

Tealight oil burner

It has a characteristic shape and appearance and looks small and petite yet effective. The oil is put in different concentrations on top and the candle is lit in the bottom. The process is same as discussed above. The amount of oil to put on top depends on how much fragrance you need. The oil amount also changes based on the medicine and the concentration you want to diffuse.

Our recommendations

Electrically working oil burner

These are automatic and work on electricity and are much safer and more popular than traditional oil burners. The reason being not having to worry about accidental fires as in the case for the Candle burner. Electrical oil warmers/burners are also small in size and very effective in their process.

Lamp or bulb ring oil warmer

This warmer consists of a small ring which is placed on top of a bulb or a lamp. Because of the small size, it can fit on the bulb.

  • As the bulb lights up, it gets warm because electricity is being transferred through it.
  • The electricity makes the bulb warm which in turn warms the oil in the ring and the oil is diffused throughout the room.
  • The oil spreads evenly this way and there is no use of electricity or a candle.
  • This warmer beat the other two being small and working on the minimal requirements.
  • But, if we do not want to light the bulb and what to sit in dark these ring warmers will not work, so I guess everything has their pros and cons.

Why should you buy an oil warmer?

The importance of the oil warmer cannot be stressed out enough as it relates directly to the importance of the medicinal or essential oil being used and being evaporated in the room.

A fragrant room

Who doesn’t like a fragrant room and a good-smelling home? It can make your mood better in a matter of seconds. A good environment especially a good fragrance can enhance our mood, this has been proved by science and psychology. That is why the businesses of perfumes and deodorants have reached up to Billions if not more.

Relaxing and sleeping

The essential oils in small concentration are extracted from different flowers and herbs work magic.

  • They can have many useful outcomes in human life as they help us fall asleep better.
  • They can help us relieve our pains that we did not know we had.
  • These oils have molecules that interact with the human body and impart sensations of soothing.

Fight the diseases and assist the immune system

The immune system is the first defense of humans against any kind of diseases that they are subjected to.

  • This immune system makes antibiotics that are our soldiers against the infectious diseases.
  • The medicinal contact being diffused using an oil warmer would help the immune system work faster and more effectively.
  • It is very useful and effective in treating the diseases and overall strengthening our immune system even if there is no disease it is better to be prepared.

Reducing the inflammation on the body

Inflammation mostly occurs at the site of infection where the antibodies of the immune system fight the bacteria that are the outsiders affecting human body.

  • The antibodies and the bacterial cells die in the battlefield and their bodies accumulate at the site which is seen as pus.
  • The inflammation is due to the accumulation of the cells at that specific site. Essential oils and medicines help reduce this inflammation.
  • What better way to apply this medicine than to disperse it in the environment?
  • This way the medicine can act effectively on the target site.
  • It is better than taking the medicine intravenously in the form of injection or tablet. It is a slow process and can be ineffective.

Factors affecting the working of oil warmers

Oil warmer and wind chimes create an amazing harmony in your home. to know more about how to select a wind chime, read my article How to Choose the Perfect Wind Chime For Your Space

Location

It all depends on where you put your oil warmer. If you keep it at the corner of the room the diffusion will start from there and it would take some time for the oil to spread out evenly. You need your fragrance to spread faster so you can keep your oil warmer in the center. The perfect would be on the side table of your bed if you want your fragrance and your medicinal oil to be centrally concentrated.

Snuffing out the candle

While using a candle as a heat transferring mechanism for the oil diffusion, make sure that you do not let the candle burn throughout the night. This can be dangerous to use around the children or pets. As soon as the oil has been dispersed in the surroundings, blow out the candle. This way you can be sure that there are no chances of an accidental mishap, and you can avoid any further threats especially at night after sleeping.

The speed of diffusion

You can control the speed at which oil diffuses in any atmosphere by controlling the heat that is being transferred to the oil.

  •  The general rule is that there should be a minimum of six centimeters of distance between the heat source and the oil.
  • The heat source specifically means the candle. In the case of an electrically operated oil warmer, you can generally control the heat that is given out to the oil.
  • Another trick you can use to slow down the diffusion is to use a thinner candle rather than a thickerone.
  • The thinner the candle the smaller the flame.
  • Also, you can use a smaller candle or longer candle in order to adjust the distance between the oil and the heat source.
  • In the case of ring oil warmers, you can keep the ring on a bigger bulb in case of faster diffusion and a smaller bulb in case you want a slower rate of diffusion.

Usage time

The amount of time for which the oil warmer works also affect the dispersion rate and content of oil in the surroundings.

  •  If the oil needs to be more in amount, then you can use a longer candle which would burn for longer time.
  • It would increase the run time of the warmer because the bigger candle you use the longer it would burn for.
  • This general comparison would give you an idea for how long you want to keep your oil warmer running.
  • While in an electrical oil warmer you would have the option to manually operate it depending on how much time you want to give it to work.
  • In case of the ring oil warmer you would have to remove it by yourself as the process of diffusion is done.
  • After this brief comparison it is safe to say that candle oil warmer wins the point.
  • In case of candle warmer there is no need to wait for the dispersion of oil to happen so you can turn your warmer off.

Cost of the oil warmers

  • The common comparison would state that electrically operated oil warmers would be more expensive than that of the candle oil warmers and the ring oil warmers.
  • The comparison between the candle and the ring oil warmers would suggest that candle one would be more expensive.
  • Because you would have to replace the candle every time you want to operate, and candle has outlived its fate.
  • The ring can simply be placed anywhere in the world where the lamp or a bulb is working so it is budget-friendly small and easy to operate.

Cleaning the oil warmer

Residual unwanted build-up can accumulate in the oil warmer especially while using candle as the heat source.

  •  It is necessary to clean the warmers regularly to increase their durability and get the best results every time.
  • The accumulated wax and build-up can be removed by using damp cloth that has been soaked in warm water.
  • If there are permanent stains on the warmer, using dishwasher soap can help by gently rubbing out the stains.
  • But before starting to clean out the warmer, wait for it to cooldown completely.
  • You do not want to end up burning your hand.
  • Electrically operating oil warmers are easier to clean up because there is no built up inside the warmer as there is no candle to be replaced.
