Extremely helpful pointers to consider while decorating your Kitchen

If you can organize your kitchen, you can organize your life.” – Louis Parrish

A kitchen is a cardinal place in your household. It is the place where memories and connections are made. A mom cooking with her daughter, bonding over failed and successful dishes. Two love birds strengthen their love and understanding by intimately cooking together. So, for these and many other reasons, decorating your kitchen has to be done right with all the love and effort that you can put in. Some of the useful points are as follows:

Make a checklist and make sure you have everything

The first and foremost step is to make sure you have everything you need to decorate your kitchen. Make a checklist on your phone of all the appliances and fixtures needed to fix those appliances. Keep ticking the boxes of things you already have. It is important because it saves your time and effort.

Measure the space available

After making a list and stalking necessary appliances, you have to measure your space and match it with the appliances. It is important for example; the appliances need to have proper space to be functional. For example, you have to keep adding fruits to your juicer with time and have to have enough space to get the juice out properly. Another example is a coffee maker. You need space to perform the morning rituals of coffee making and operate a coffee machine to get that dark brown magical potion from heaven. These little details can make a lot of difference.

Make sure to consider corners faraway

The appliances that have doors like microwave ovens, air fryers, and electric ovens are not to be placed in the corners or near each other. The doors would bang with the corner and with each other. It can damage the appliances and affect their working. So, it’s wise to place each of them at a safe distance apart from each and the corners. You can however use corners to keep knives and spoon stands. They would be safer in the corner away from your kids’ reach than being placed out in the open.

You should be able to move freely in the kitchen

It is important to maintain the easy flow of traffic in the kitchen. You should not have any hindrances on your way while you cook food. Everything should be placed in a sequence and a flow. You can arrange your kitchen items based on their usage. For example, a cutting board should be placed or hung near the stove. The microwave should be where there are plates to warm food faster. The fridge should also be near the oven and utensils. Especially the locations of the refrigerator, sink, and stove. They would be close to each other and easy to access. It would save you a lot of time. The appliances should also be at a safe distance and height if you have kids running around.

Consider space-saving inbuilt items

With the increasing population and rent of property, most of us want to have a small rent-friendly place but with all amenities. Some space-saving hacks can help you here. Roll-out pantry, sliding cabinets, and built-in appliances are a one-way start. Built-in appliances include fridges, baking ovens, stoves, coffee makers, etc. It’s all about smart use. You can also make use of the kitchen counter by getting one with lots and lots of drawers to keep all the stuff inside them. You can also get a built-in dishwasher under the stove and small drawers to keep your supplies. You can get a multi-pot hanger to save further space.

Think about the function of the kitchen island

The kitchen counter or island can take up a lot of space in your kitchen and is mainly a central space in your kitchen so it’s important to determine what purpose would a kitchen island fulfill. It can be used for cooking. It can also be used as a dining place with chairs placed around it. So, if you want to use it for both, the size of the kitchen island should be enough to accommodate cooking and eating without making a mess of things.

Consider two of every appliance

If your home has a lot of people in it, it would be wise to invest in twin appliances. For example, two microwaves and two stoves would increase the efficiency and divide the workload. Plus, it would increase the lifespan of your appliances because of the usage being divided into two. It’s a one-time investment but it would be worth it and also make things easier.

Knives out, store them smartly

Knives and forks can be dangerous utensils for children. They should be arranged specifically. First, placing them in the corner away from anyone’s eyes is a good idea, but you can also use a magnetic strip on the backsplash and attach them there. Or store them away in cabinets and drawers away from children’s reach. The same is the case with keeping forks in your home.

Decorate your kitchen

Decorating your kitchen with decorative accessories is super important. There are so many ideas you can explore. Decorating it with quotes like “we all cook down here” “today’s menu? Eat it or starve” “I cook fabulously; the smoke alarm agrees profoundly”. You can also decorate your kitchen with recipes printed on cardboard or framed in cute frames. It will not only help you cook if you forget a step but also decorate your kitchen. You can also use decorative kitchen items to make the place more attractive.

Powers outlets

It is very important to have enough power outlets because electrical appliances work on them. Electric ovens, toasters, juicers, and microwaves among many others are important appliances and they must have proper outlets. You can also get some switches and buttons on the kitchen island so you can easily work there without creating any hurdles of cables for connecting to a source that is way too far. These cables connecting with far away sources can get entangled with each other and cause serious injuries. As a shortcut, you can use an extension cord.
