My preference and use of faux Ficus to decorate my home.

What does a Ficus say to its owner? “I’m rooting for Ya!”.

A Ficus is a woody plant belonging to a genus of about 850 species! I know right?! Nature is so generous with so many varieties and variations of living organisms. These plants have been used as a sort of living pet for decades. They are lush, green, and pretty with intricate branches and extensive roots.

Why do I and so many other homeowners like Ficus plants so much?

I for one find them adorable. Ficus with their innocent small shoots and leaves standing tall and silent in any corner they are placed are just the cutest. The small ones are like tiny trees that I can keep in my lounge. The greenery of these plants are not just for the show but it imparts so many health benefits like

  • The green color calms your soul
  • It decreases your anxiety and depression
  • Surrounding yourself with green color freshens up your mind and generates new creative ideas.

I am sure, if you like faux ficus trees then you would also like faux palm trees too. to know more about this check the article How to use Faux Palm trees for Indoor and Outdoor decor.

Why do I prefer faux Ficus over natural ones?

  • I love how faux Ficus can maintain its pure green colors without fading and losing its shiny, crisp, and natural appeal.
  • I do so many things in a 24/7 window that I forget to water myself let alone watering my plants. With faux Ficus, I don’t have to worry about it.
  • In the case of faux plants, there is no mess of dirt indoors that results from keeping a real plant. The frequent dirt particles can not only make my home dirty but can also be allergic. With a faux Ficus, that’s not an issue.
  • Aside from personal preferences, I like faux Ficus for a very legit and scientific reason. This reason is that a natural Ficus is a tropical plant (that requires a maintained temperature of around 18°C). While some species thrive in warmer temperatures. And if you live in colder regions or where temperature changes drastically, keeping a Ficus can be very difficult. So it’s better to opt for a faux one.
  • Ficusses enjoy summers and sunlight but not direct sunlight or too bright sunlight. In winters they have to be protected because they cannot survive in temperatures under 60°F. I can avoid all of this by keeping a simple faux Ficus.

How can you decorate your home with Faux ficus?

1.     At the entrance of the home

I love keeping these plants at the entrance of my home right at the door of the main gate. I love to see these fresh green items every time I come home after a tiring day at work. After looking at their fresh color my mood instantly gets better. If you have a main entrance gate that opens up to a yard and another one that opens up to the house, then I would suggest placing a Ficus plant at both spots to increase the appeal and create a pattern.

2.     In the terrace or balcony

If you have a small cute balcony outside of your comfortable and pretty condominium, I would, hands down, suggest you have a Ficus in the outdoor terrace. Every time you hang out with your partner on the terrace for an evening tea or a cozy afternoon hang alone, looking at the greenery will instantly make your soul calm. It would help you rejuvenate your strength and get the creative juices flowing along with many other health benefits. I know one thing for sure that it is difficult to lay grass or grow trees on a terrace or balcony so it’s better to keep a faux Ficus. I also love to blend these faux plants with natural ones in my backyard. It increases the whole appeal and as they say “the more the merrier”

3.     In any room for you like

I think the best thing about these plants is that they would find their place anywhere in your home and outdoors. It’s their best feature. They can adjust and hang around anywhere they are placed. Either it’s in the living room on the side of a sofa set or in the bedroom near the door. I would also suggest using a small faux Ficus to decorate your bathrooms. Bathrooms are usually kept simple and with much less color detailing as compared to other areas in your home so keeping a faux plant really adds some detail and color to the area. I would also love to see a faux ficus in my kitchen too.

4.     To make a style and color statement

The more I  think about it, the more I am in awe and in gratitude towards nature and its wonders. The faux Ficus which is basically a mimicry of a natural plant with a lot less mess is such a useful item. You can literally use it in any decor and would pair up super nicely with any color scheme and style theme. Believe me, when I say this, a faux Ficus can be incorporated in any area. You can find the use of faux Ficus in French style décor with its elegance. You can keep a Ficus in farm-style decor to add to the rustic and comfortable charm. You can put the Ficus in a modern setting and enhance the minimalist modernity. A Ficus would look absolutely perfect in the simplicity and earthiness of Zen-style décor. I just find it so useful that it has its applications everywhere.

5.     To make awkward spaces less awkward

Having extensive experience in home and garden décor I know for a fact that while decorating your home no matter how hard you try, you are going to end up with free awkward spaces. No amount of careful consideration can save you from some spare corners that are of no use. And for me, this is where these faux plants come in. With minimal maintenance, these plants can be adjusted in any place to decorate them and to increase the aesthetic of the whole surrounding. It doesn’t matter that the blank space is too shady, too sunny, too crowded, too cold, a faux Ficus would be able to adjust in any place. So, I suggest placing these plants in every corner and edge that seems empty.
